Jordan Evans visited the KCEOC KY Career Center Jobsight office when he found himself unemployed at the age of 21. Before coming to the KCEOC KY Career Center Jordan previously obtained his Lineman Certification on his own, but he did not obtain CDL during the Lineman Training Program. He was not able to find employment in the Lineman field without his CDL. He spoke with several employers who had indicated interest in hiring him once he obtained the CDL. However, because of being unemployed, Jordan did not have the means to obtain his CDL’s.
After being assessed, and completing career advising sessions, it was determined that Jordan met eligibility guidelines for the Out of School Youth Program. His Career Advisor decided it would benefit Jordan by adding a CDL certification to his Lineman certification, and enhance the probability of obtaining employment.
He began training at the Lake Cumberland CDL Program on September 5, 2017. He was assisted with the cost of the tuition for the training by the KCEOC KY Career Center. He successfully completed the training on October 4, 2017, and was assisted by the Career Center with creating a professional resume. Jordan began employment with Pike Electric on December 4, 2017 as a lineman, and continues to be employed full time.
